She reached toward the stone, then stopped and brought the chain toward the stone. Lining it up carefully with the widest part of the stone, she gently touched the metal cap hanging from the chain to the stone.

“Click!” There was a sharp sound, and the stone was joined to the small, bell-shaped cap. This first click was followed by a series of clicks. The blue stones formed a circle of teardrops.

Sharon placed the chain over her head, and the circle of stones rose to point the direction she was to take.

Before she rose to her feet, Sharon looked at the cat.

“Thank you,” she said. “Whether you knew what needed to happen or not, I appreciate your help and suggestions.”

As she rose and started up the path where the necklace was pointing, the cat also rose, stretched, and headed into the woods away from the path.
