Chapter Six: A Pleasant Surprise . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Page 5

You wonder, Why were you locked up?  You may both be a dangerous, and alert the folk of this world to my presence.  You may jeopardize my mission.  Why should I trust you?

It is through no fault of either of ours that we are imprisoned. Though we look like dangerous beasts, we are misunderstood by these people.  They imprison to study, to understand, not to be deliberately cruel or because they would otherwise be in danger.

You trust them, but they do resemble animals that would be quite dangerous on Earth.  With some misgivings, you push the button attached to the lion’s cage; the bars on one side of the cage retreat into the one of the bars they are attached to.  Purring, the great cat stretching and bounds out.  You do the same, with the same reaction, to the griffin’s cage.

Thank you.

“You’re welcome.”

Both “speak” at once, almost as the lion herself wasn’t free until now that the griffin is as well.  The griffin’s “voice” is as definitely male as the lioness’s is definitely female.

It is time to continue your quest; only, now, you’re not alone.
