Cal slipped his list into his knapsack, which he then placed gently under his desk.
“Very well. Lead on.”
When they came to Creae’s door, Creae was furious.
“Come in,” he told Cal. Cal entered the room, pulling the door closed.
“Explain yourself,” Creae commanded.
“What is there to explain?” Cal demanded sharply.
“You ask for Landis to start a war at your pleasure, and you think there’s nothing to explain?” Cal then saw the note on Creae’s desk.
“I can understand Landis starting a war for his own pleasure, but this is far beyond any of your duties. A war is a far cry from a prank or practical joke. You’ll remember the last time men fought amongst themselves? I had to guide them to discovering the atomic bomb merely to end it all!”
