Cal was surprised a few days later when the cell door opened. He couldn’t believe that Creae would release him so soon – but there Creae was, waiting for Cal to exit the cell.

“I’ve heard,” Creae said, “that you keep acting out because you feel under-appreciated. You would have more power. Would this name suffice?” He held out a name-contract. Cal, on his guard, looked the name over. Kyros. Leader. Was Creae willing to give up his position as ruler of the gods to keep peace? It wouldn’t help him.

Cal would make certain that he became Unknown anyway. The god of Creativity would not be able to be controlled, so he must not stay. Cal looked over the contract for any sign of tricks, but saw nothing worthy of concern. He touched his thumb to the bottom of the page, where a print appeared. When gods change names, signatures become confusing.

Creae nodded.
