Poetry is a form of literature, just like a novel or a play. A poem can be long or short. It can rhyme. It can have rhythm. It can tell a story, paint a picture, or express an emotion. Different cultures have different styles of poems.
The Gingerbread Man is a poem written to tell the story of the Gingerbread Man. It was written for young children, which is why parts of it repeat over and over. I like poems that rhyme and have a definite rhythm, so I made sure that this poem had both rhythm and rhyme.
For the prompt this week, write a poem, any kind of poem, that tells a story.

P.S. I set this poem to music. If you would like to hear the song, tell me in the comments and I may bring it out of my binder.
