When she smelled the catnip in the ball she willingly followed the bouncing ball tied to the end of the stick. When they arrived at the old woman’s house, the cat bounded up the stairs. A and T followed more slowly.

“Thank you, A and T, for bringing Blackie home,” said the old woman. “I need to reward you for all the help you have given me. Now let me see . . .”

She thought for a few minutes. “Oh,” she said, “That will be perfect. Now, where did I put my wand?”
